The Mothers' Parliament is an international project uniting mothers and those born (M/others) around an urgent need to fight for a better future using tools of thought, creativity, and inspiration.
( about )
At the project's heart lies maternal knowledge and its inherent wisdom. Mothers are leaders within an unknown future from the moment they become mothers. Hence, in the context of an international leadership crisis of mistrust, we choose to promote the agency of mothers and give stage to their knowledge.
Danielle Gallia-Kind is a mother, choreographer, educator, and advocate for change. She holds an MA in Choreography from ArtEZ University of the Arts in the Netherlands. Over the past 15 years, she has presented her work in theaters, museums, and festivals across Israel, Europe, and the United States. Her artistic research focuses on maternal embodied knowledge and the unique languages of movement and imagination it generates. Since October 7th, she has traveled internationally to amplify the voices of mothers, advocate for the return of hostages, and foster global collaborations to envision hope and a shared future in the face of uncertainty.

When we say "mother," we mean motherhood as an essence—a world of knowledge based on the integration of connection to nature, nurture, and care for others (see Motherism by Catherine Obianuju Acholonu). This compass exists as a potential within each of us, the people who were born (M/other by Deirdre M. Donoghue). The Parliament's actions span personal, artistic, and political spheres, with a clear intention to impact the realities of our lives.
The parliament is nurtured by various collaborations. Its main project partners are the Frascati Theatre Het Verbond in Amsterdam, Netherlands and the Kelim Center in Bat Yam, Israel.
"Motherhood takes Place", the artistic research accompanying the Mothers' Parliament project, is a long-term artistic-research by the choreographers Danielle Gallia Kind and Merav Dagan. The research asks to collect diverse maternal-artistic practices. To value knowledge that is passed down from mother to child through the body. To connect M/other-artists and to let the knowledge net expand to a living archive. This embodied maternal knowledge is a hidden treasure, an alternative model that could offer guidance in economic, social, and political conduct. Although it can be documented in writing, its essence is rooted in presence, touch, timing, and rhythm. Therefore, the connection between the maternal body and performative space is essential.
